Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report: December 1, 2018

These Guys Had Their Limit of Stripers by 8:30am!!

I didn't fish yesterday, but I heard that the bite was way down the bay. I mean WAY down the bay, about 15 miles into Virginia. So, we left the dock extra early this morning, in anticipation of a really long boat ride in order to catch some fish. Fortunately, we ended up not having to travel that far. About half way down there, we saw acres of birds working on the water surface, tipping us off to where the fish were. By 8:30 this morning, the crew pictured above had their limit of rockfish, as the trolling action was fast and furious! The biggest one of the day was 32 inches long, and had plenty of girth! Another great day on the bay!

Trolling for Rockfish on the Chesapeake Bay!

They were calling for some really foul weather today, but it didn't materialize until later this afternoon. It allowed enough time for us to get out and land another limit of rockfish from the Chesapeake Bay! We had fish today that ranged up to 30 inches in length. The fish were ready for us as soon as we got to the fishing grounds. We had our limit by 9am! Great day!

If every day was like today......As soon as we got out to the fishing grounds, the birds were out there waiting for us, leading us to the fish! We had our limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish this morning before 9am! They were all fat and healthy fish, with them ranging up to 30 inches long!

Trolling for Rockfish on the Chesapeake Bay!

It was yet another fantastic day of fishing out on the Chesapeake Bay. This Saturday morning didn't start out that way, though. Contrary to the weather forecasts for today, the wind was blowing hard and the water was pretty choppy. The fishing was slow as well. At 11am, we didn't have a fish in the box!  However, the wind eventually died down, and we started seeing clouds of birds diving on the water surface. When we got in amongst those bird piles, we started loading our trolling lines with fish! We had our limit of striped bass in no time! The biggest fish of the day came in at 32 inches long, while most of the fish ranged between 19 and 24 inches in length.

The Fall Rockfish Bite Is On!

This crew decided to book a fishing charter with me after finding me on the internet. We almost didn't go fishing today, because the winds this morning were so heavy. We ended up pushing the trip back a few hours and went in the afternoon. There was plenty of action throughout the trip. We caught about 15 rockfish in the first couple of hours, but none of them were big enough to keep. We moved a few miles up the bay to find a better grade of fish and reset our trolling lines in the vicinity of some birds. That turned out to do the trick. A couple of hours later, these guys had their limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish! Two of these fish were over 30 inches long, with the smaller fish as fat as butter!

Chesapeake Bay Charter Fishing - Great for Family Reunions!

This crew contacted me yesterday and asked about fishing with me. They were in town for a family reunion, and wanted to try some fishing on the Chesapeake. As you can see from the above picture, the fishing didn't disappoint. We limited out on rockfish with live spot for bait, caught some bluefish, and then did some bottom fishing. It was another great day on the Chesapeake Bay!

Fishing On The Chesapeake Bay For Rockfish and Bluefish!

It was a nice time, fishing out of Kent Narrows, but I returned to Taylors Island for some tour bookings. Thankfully, at least some of the fish followed me down! I left the dock bright and early this morning with a family that was in town from Illinois. The fishing was slow starting out, but I moved north, toward where I had been fishing earlier this summer. It turned out to be a good move, as these guys limited out on striped bass and caught a few bluefish as well. While we're still chumming for these rockfish, we did catch some with the use of live spot for bait. Live-lining has been the most popular method of fishing for striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay over the last few years. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come!

A Lot of Fish Caught on the Chesapeake Bay Today!

It was another great day of fishing today! Being at Kent Narrows put me a lot closer to this bunch, so they didn't have to drive so far to see me. We caught a limit of rockfish, but it took us all day, as we had to pick through a lot of undersized fish. But, it was plenty of action for everybody!

Here's A Youngster Who Thinks Fishing Is Better Than Video Games!

I had a pair of fishing charters today. In the morning, I had a grandfather and grandson duo that found me on the internet. These guys had a ball as they went home with a limit of striped bass, and even had time to do some bottom fishing for perch.

In the afternoon, I had a group of folks who were in town for a business conference. They found me on the internet and decided to go fishing before heading back to their respective parts of the country. They didn't leave disappointed either!

I had a group of local farmers on the boat with me this afternoon. We're still chumming with light tackle to catch striped bass. As you can see from the above picture, the afternoon was quite successful! These guys caught their limit, and not only that, they did it and got back to the dock right before the evening thunderstorms hit!

Another Great Day of Fishing out of Kent Narrows!

This crew was staying down on Hoopers Island the night before the trip. When they booked it, I never thought I'd be fishing out of Kent Narrows. As it turned out, they took the long drive with me first thing in the morning, and we headed out into the Chesapeake Bay, in search of some rockfish. They had no trouble at all catching them! We're still chumming with light tackle. This is great fun for fishermen of all skill levels.

Chesapeake Bay Rockfish, Catfish, and White Perch

I took a group of longtime customers out with me today from Kent Narrows. The fishing was good yet again. My group of seven limited out on rockfish with light tackle in pretty short order. Then, we did some bottom fishing and caught a bunch of white perch and a couple of catfish! I hope the fishing on the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay keeps up like this!

More Rockfish from the Chesapeake Bay!

Friday the 13th happened to be pretty good for me and this crew! This is my first trip out of Kent Narrows. I had to move there because the fish have moved up the bay, and it's also more convenient for most of my customers. These folks had no trouble catching their limit of striped bass on the Chesapeake Bay. They had a blast! I'm available every day this week out of Kent Narrows, except for Tuesday the 17th. That one's already booked! Give me a call to book your date!

Awesome Chesapeake Bay Fishing Action

This group fished with me for the first time today. The wind was blowing quite a bit the first thing in the morning, but these folks weren't deterred by it. We took a bumpy ride up to the fishing hole, and once we got anchored up, we started chunking up bait fish. It didn't take long for the striped bass to find us. These guys caught their limit with light tackle, and a bunch of smaller fish that had to be thrown back. A great day!

Beautiful Rockfish on the Eastern Shore!

Is this a way to end the month of June or what? The guy that booked this trip with me today hadn't fished with me since I had my old boat, back before 2002. He decided to treat his clients with a Chesapeake Bay fishing charter with me, and they went home very happy! Check out that catch of rockfish! These guys limited out in pretty short order with light tackle. The fish ranged between 19 and 26 inches and some of them had some girth to them. They're some of the prettiest fish we've caught yet this summer. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come!

Family Fishing Trips on the Chesapeake Bay!

Here, we have a family group that came here from Kentucky. They have family here in our area and were up for a visit. They booked me for a Chesapeake Bay fishing charter the day before, and the fish were ready for us when we found 'em! These folks had their limit of striped bass within a couple of hours of fishing. Even the kids were catching them! It goes to show that light tackle fishing for striped bass on the Chesapeake Bay is suitable for all skill levels!

Today, I had a group of six out with me. They were in the area and asked about going fishing with me. The fishing was red-hot as it's been for several weeks now. Chesapeake Bay Striped Bass from the Eastern Shore!

These guys fished with me for the first time today. As you can see, they came away with a nice catch. The fishing was pretty slow starting out, as it was a Saturday morning, and there were plenty of boats out. But, we hung in there, and moved around to a couple of different spots. By the time we were done, we had a total of 11 striped bass for six guys! Not too shabby!

This gang fished with me for the first time today, as part of a bachelor party celebration. As you can see, they did not go home empty-handed! We left the dock dark and early, and got to the fishing hole before most of the other boats did. That paid off for us, as we started catching fish almost right away! These guys had their limit of rockfish in no time! These guys landed their limit with light tackle and chum! That's a full limit of rockfish, caught with chum and light tackle! The fishing was really slow starting out, but later in the day, we changed our position, and the fish started to bite, and these guys had their limit in no time. The biggest fish was 30 inches long!

Happy Fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay!

This crew was here from Asheville, NC as part of a family get-together. I'm glad that I could be a part of this! Fortunately, I was also able to find these guys some fish! We left the dock dark and early at 5am, got to the Chesapeake Bay fishing grounds and put our lines over. We caught a couple of rockfish right away, and then, hit a lull. Then, it picked up again when I found a spot where the sonar lit up with fish from top to bottom. We loaded our trolling lines a couple of times, and then proceeded to pick away until these guys had a full limit of rockfish! The fish caught today ranged from 19 to 32 inches long. This was this crew's first Chesapeake Bay fishing charter with me, and hopefully it won't be their last!

First Limit of Rockfish in 2018!

It's been a really tough go so far this season, with the fishing being as slow as it's been. However, today was totally different, and hopefully a sign of things to come for the next few weeks. At about 7:30 this morning, we had four lines hook up at the same time, creating quite a bit of chaos! However, we managed to land all four fish, and limited out right before lunchtime! Almost all of these Chesapeake Bay rockfish were over 40 inches long! Needless to say, this was a very happy crew at the end of the trip!

Mammoth Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

This year has gotten off to a really slow start with regard to the fishing, but if the above picture of today's action is any indication, things are really gonna heat up! The fishing was by no means fast and furious. We caught our first fish at about 7am, and then had to wait about 4 hours for the next one. We didn't catch the last two until we were pulling up our lines. But, just look at the size of these rockfish! All four of them are over 40 inches long! These guys were tickled to death, as was I!

It was a fantastic day of fishing today on the Chesapeake Bay! These guys have fished with me for a number of years, and always have a good time no matter what. They were certainly tickled with the limit of rockfish that we landed today! The biggest one today came in at 32 inches long. Even the shorter ones have some girth to them, typical of the type of rockfish that are caught this time of year. The picture really doesn't do it any justice. The weather was absolutely fantastic as well. A perfect day on the Chesapeake Bay!

Longtime Customers With A Limit Of Rockfish!

Here is a group that I have been taking for a long time. They've had some good trips, and some not-so-productive trips. However, today was out of this world! These guys went home with a huge load of striped bass, as they had their legal limit by around 10:30am. We would go over bunches of breaking fish and pick up 2 or 3 fish at a time. There wasn't a dull moment throughout the trip! Hopefully, the fishing continues like this until the season ends next month.

Did you go Christmas shopping on Black Friday? Well, if you did, then look at what you missed out on! I took these guys out early in the morning and headed down the Chesapeake Bay, until I saw gannets and gulls diving onto the surface of the bay. We put our lines over and trolled around these flocks of birds and had five trolling lines hook up at the same time! We landed seven good-size stripers in that bunch, including the biggest rockfish of the day that came in at 34 inches long! We then proceeded to catch one at a time throughout the day until these guys had their legal limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish. They have already asked me to put them down for Black Friday next year!

Last winter, this crew called me up and booked this trip for today. They had asked another guy to take them, but his boat couldn't carry more than six people, so they came to me. Having a boat that can legally carry more than six people is a great competitive advantage to have.

At any rate, the livelining for striped bass on the Chesapeake Bay continues to be on fire! These guys caught their limit of rockfish on the bay in pretty short order. Another Happy Chesapeake Bay Fishing Charter!

It was yet another great day of fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, as this family group was in town from Baltimore and asked me to take them fishing for the day. We left the dock bright and early, and I decided to put my surplus of bait fish to work right away, as we headed to where the rockfishing has been on fire over the last few weeks. It was a bit different this morning, as the bite didn't take off right away. The current was running really hard, and that might have had something to do with it.

But then, I saw a big cluster of birds swooping down on what appeared to be pods of fish that were breaking on the water surface. We pulled up the anchor and headed off in that direction. It turns out that that was the right decision to make, because we started getting hook-ups as soon as we dropped the anchor! We ended up with a legal limit of striped bass in no time! Rockfish Don't Care If It Rains!

This morning, I had a crew that was in town from Chicago, and they asked me to take them fishing for the day. I was quite a bit concerned, because the Chesapeake Bay marine forecasts were calling for rain, which doesn't necessarily keep you from fishing, but it's certainly far from optimal. I mean, who wants to stand out in the rain and fish? At any rate, when we left the dock at 6:30 in the morning, it wasn't raining and it was looking like the rain might hold off until later in the day. We went straight to where the rockfish were biting, and it didn't take long before we limited out on 'em! As has been the case over the last couple of weeks, we're still catching them with live spot for bait. All of the fish were between 20 and 24 inches long. After we limited out, we went off to do some bottom fishing. Then, the rain hit and everybody decided that they had enough. However, they were all happy because we got the trip in and they went home with plenty of fish from the Chesapeake Bay!

I took this group with me for the first time today. Hopefully, they'll be back after what they ended up with on this Saturday evening! It certainly didn't look that way starting out on the Chesapeake Bay. We left the dock at noon, and by 5:30 that evening, we still had an empty cooler. But then, right when it appeared that all was lost, I saw a couple of pods of fish breaking on the water surface off in the distance. We headed over in that direction, and we started getting hook-ups. At 5:30, we had nothing, but by 6:30 we had caught everything in that picture! It was fast and furious for about an hour, akin to a ninth-inning rally in baseball! This was group turned out to be a bunch of happy campers by the end of the day!

It was a typical Saturday for me today. There was a lot of weekend boat traffic, which made the fishing on the bay a lot more challenging. Today was another outstanding day for rockfishing on the Chesapeake Bay! The fishing started off red hot, and continued that way until about 10:30 when these guys finished off their legal limit of striped bass! The biggest one of the day came in at 40 inches, a bit smaller than what we had been catching, but still a lot of meat! These guys are already talking about booking with me again this fall!

BIG Limit Of Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

Now, that's more like it! This crew landed its full legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass. The fishing today on the bay was like night and day when compared to what it has been over the last few days. The lady on the right started it off by landing a huge 47-inch rockfish, and we kept getting bites the whole time before limiting out well before lunchtime. It was a great day, and these guys are already asking about booking for next year!

Four More Bangin' Trophy Rockfish

The above picture shows what happened during my afternoon trip with some longtime customers of mine. It was really slow starting out, until about a couple of hours into it, when I had three trolling lines all hook up at the same time! You talk about exciting? We managed to land all three fish, and they all turned out to be nice keeper rockfish. Then, we picked up another as the day wound down. They were a very happy bunch!

Nice Fish On A Fine Chesapeake Bay Afternoon!

After some tough fishing over the weekend before and foul weather that kept me at the dock for the last two days, I was ready to get back out there on the bay for another fishing charter. These guys have been fishing with me since the '90s, and I was looking to show them a good time. Overall, it was a tough campaign, but we did catch three nice rockfish, including one that came in at a whopping 47 inches long! That one is pictured below!

Great Friday Morning Catch Of Chesapeake Bay Striped Bass!

I had two trips today. The above picture is from my morning trip. We left the dock bright and early and were putting out our lines as the sun was coming up. Fortunately, the fish were there to greet us! After throwing back a 33" fish that was too short to legally keep, we had three lines hook-up at the same time! We managed to land all three of these fish, and they were all keepers. With the skunk out of the box, we proceeded to troll further and land two more keepers as the morning went on. We also caught another throwback fish. These guys were so happy that when we got back to the dock, they reserved the same date for next year!

Four Monster Rockfish From The Chesapeake Bay!

The above picture is from my afternoon trip. Here, we caught four huge rockfish, all of them over 40 inches long. It started out really slow. We caught the first fish not long after getting our lines out, but then, we never had another bite until we started pulling our lines up. Once we started pulling lines out of the water, we landed a BIG 42" Chesapeake Bay rockfish. We made two more circles in that area and picked up two more, including the monster in the picture below.

Monster 48" Rockfish From The Chesapeake Bay!

The big striped bass pictured above came in at 48 inches long, the biggest striped bass of the season so far! The lady pictured with the fish reeled it in like a boss. Proud of her!

Another Group Of Happy Longtime Fishing Customers!

Here is group of longtime customers that I took out on the Chesapeake Bay this morning. As you can see, they were pretty successful in their endeavor! We landed six BIG trophy rockfish on the day. With the exception of a 36-incher that was caught at the end of the day, the other five fish in the above picture were all at least 40 inches long! Hope it keeps up!

Whopping Catch Of Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

Look at the whoppers that we landed today! We had to spend the whole day on the bay to catch these humongous striped bass, but just look at 'em! The biggest on the day was 47 inches long, while even the smallest still came in at 41 inches. What a day on the Chesapeake Bay. The biggest is pictured below.

Not A Full Liimit, But Still A Nice Catch Of Striper!

After the awesome day that I had yesterday, I was really looking forward to getting out on the Chesapeake Bay again this morning. It really started out promising, as we caught two pretty rockfish while I was getting the lines out. One of them had to go back over, as it clocked in at 32 inches in length, shorter than the 35-inch minimum that is mandated by state law. We picked up another quality fish about a half hour later, and then we had to wait them out, before catching another BIG fish later in the day. We didn't limit out, but it was still a really nice catch!

Great Rockfish Catch On The Chesapeake Bay!
After a really tough opening weekend for the 2017 Maryland Rockfish Season, I needed to have a really good day. Today did not disappoint! Over the weekend, there was a lot of boat traffic on the water, which made the fishing very challenging. We didn't have this issue today. We caught two of these BIG monster striped bass when we were putting out our lines, and picked away until we had our limit by 11:30. Some of the fish in this picture were 40"+! It was a fantastic day all around, with great weather and a great crew. Hopefully, the fishing will only get better from here!

Black Friday Limit Of Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

I took these guys out fishing for the first time. As you can see, it was another great day of fishing on the Chesapeake Bay! While so many people were out this Black Friday, running the risk of getting trampled to death in the mall, these guys were loading up on rockfish! It didn't take long to find the fish, as flocks of birds were giving away their location. There were several times when multiple lines hooked up at once. These guys caught their limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish pretty fast, with some of the fish clocking in at over 30 inches long! This crew was so happy that they've already booked me for Black Friday next year!

Chesapeake Bay Fishing Charters For Rockfish!

It was another great trip on the bay today! As soon as we got out on the Chesapeake Bay fishing grounds and put our lines out, we caught two 30-inch rockfish right away! Then, the bite just died off. I could see the fish stacked up on the sonar, but they would not bite. But, I figured that they would get hungry at some point. Fortunately, I was right! Once those fish got hungry, they bit like crazy, with several of my lines hooking up at the same time! Once those fish started to bite, it didn't take long for this group of six to limit out on rockfish! I've got plenty of open dates for the rest of the season if you have a group and wanna go fishing. Give me a call at (410) 397-3743 to book your date!

Chesapeake Bay Maryland Rockfish!

This is one of the best Chesapeake Bay striped bass fishing trips of the year for me! I took this crew fishing with me for the first time, and they're already talking about going with me again on another Chesapeake Bay fishing charter! These pictures explain why! We left the dock before the sun came up, and after a bit of riding, we got to the fishing grounds and started hooking up as soon as we got our lines in the water! There were numerous times during the trip when several trolling lines hooked up at once, making for a very exciting day! Most of the striped bass that we caught today came in between 20 and 25 inches long, with a couple approaching 30 inches in length! Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come for the 2016 fall striped bass season! I have plenty of open dates between now and the end of the season in December! To book your very own date, give me a call at (410) 397-3743!

Chesapeake Bay Charter Fishing Action For Striped Bass!

This crew came fishing with me for the very first time today, on a Chesapeake Bay fishing charter. It turned out to be a great time for this group of 13 people. Obviously, not all of them are in the picture. They didn't all want to pose. We headed up the bay this afternoon, found some fish, and started getting hook-ups right away! They limited out on Chesapeake Bay rockfish in pretty short order. All 26 legal fish caught today were between 20 and 26 inches long, a very healthy grade of fish. They were also all caught on light tackle. A bunch of smaller fish that had to be thrown back were caught as well. It was enough to keep this crew entertained. Below is a cooler shot of what they went home with. They said it was more fish than they knew what to do with! Not a bad problem to have!

Chumming For Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

Today was another day of chumming for rockfish on the Chesapeake Bay. It worked out great! Even though the current was running extremely hard down the bay, the fish didn't care, as they were biting like crazy as soon as we dropped the anchor! It wasn't hard for these guys to limit out on striped bass, and they even caught a bunch of small fish that had to be thrown back. The biggest of the day for these guys was 30 inches long, similar to what we catch during the spring trophy season! These guys had such a good time, that they're now talking about fishing with me again in the fall season!

Great Catch Of Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

For the first time this year, we did some light tackle fishing on the Chesapeake Bay for rockfish. I've been taking these guys fishing on the bay for the last few years, and they've always had good luck. The only difference this time around was that we had to sail a pretty good distance to get to the fish. When we got to the fishing grounds, I rode around until I spotted a few marks on the fish finder. After we dropped anchor, we started fishing with fresh bunker for bait. It took a while before the fish started to bite, but once they did, we couldn't keep them off the lines! These guys ended up with a really nice catch! The fish were all 20-25 inches long, and they put up a really nice fight, considering that we were using spinning reels and 20-lb. test line! Another fantastic day on the Chesapeake Bay!

Chesapeake Bay Fishing For Rockfish!

This was the first charter that I've had in over a week, but boy, was it a good one! It was a small group today, so we didn't need to catch that many fish. Fortunately, when we arrived at the Chesapeake Bay fishing grounds, the fish were waiting for us. We put over eight lines, and started getting bites almost right away! Within a little over an hour, we had our limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass! These fish are smaller than what we've been catching, ranging between 21 and 26 inches long, but they were fat and healthy!

Chesapeake Bay Trophy Rockfish From Maryland's Eastern Shore!

Over the last few days, the fishing on the Chesapeake Bay had been pretty slow, with the average trip netting about 2-3 rockfish per day. Not only that, it took us all day long to catch that amount. Well, today was not like that at all! Of the four trophy rockfish that you see in the above picture, three of them were caught before we could even get all of our lines out! By 7am this morning, this group of four fishermen had their limit of trophy Chesapeake Bay striped bass! The bite was fast and furious early this morning! This shows that while trophy rockfish season is winding down, there are still a few big ones around! I'm open for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend for anyone who has a group and wants to go!

Chesapeake Bay Fishing For Trophy Striped Bass!

Here's another group of guys that have been fishing with me for a long time. They've been fishing every year on the Chesapeake Bay with me since 2008, and they generally have really good luck. Today was no different! Look at what they went home with! The fishing wasn't as fast and furious as it was yesterday, but it was still good enough for these guys to limit out on trophy striped bass! Hope this keeps up!

A Quick Limit Of Striped Bass On The Chesapeake Bay!

Last night, I almost cancelled this trip, because the weatherman was calling for two inches of rain between last night and today. Thank goodness that I didn't! That rain that we were supposed to get never materialized this morning, and the rockfish were out of the water! These guys caught four BIG striped bass by 8am, and then caught five more that had to be thrown back. All of this was done by 9am! These rockfish were all WHOPPERS, each one clocking in at over 40 inches in length! Hopefully, this continues as the 2016 trophy rockfish season progresses on the Chesapeake Bay!

Another Fine Day On The Chesapeake Bay!

It was rainy, cold, and foggy today, but apparently, the fish didn't care! A longtime customer of mine decided to bring some of his family members along for this Chesapeake Bay fishing trip, and they did not go home disappointed! The fish started biting right out of the gate, as we caught our first one while we were putting our lines out. Then, we had to wait them out for a while, as we gradually limited out! It turned out to be a fine day on the water!

Four BIG Rockfish Caught On The Chesapeake Bay!

It was a bit of a tough campaign on the Bay today, as there was a lot of boat traffic out and about due to an annual fishing tournament. However, that didn't stop us from bringing home four BIG Chesapeake Bay rockfish! All four of these fish were over 40 inches long!

The fishing was fast and furious for me today, both in the morning and in the afternoon! The above picture is the result of my morning trip. One of the guys in this group had been fishing with me for several years as part of another group. He decided to form his own group this year, and they did not go home disappointed! These fellows landed their legal limit of monster rockfish by 8am! One of the guys in the group didn't want to hold up his fish. Guess he was just tired from reeling it in!

Chesapeake Bay Charter Fishing For Big Trophy Rockfish!

This may have been my best day yet this season on the bay! These guys came down to see me first thing this morning. It was blowing a bit, but we went out anyway. The sea conditions turned out not to be that bad. And, the fishing wasn't that bad either! Look what these four guys ended up with. We had our limit by 7am this morning, and caught four more rockfish that we had to throw back! These guys were tickled with how well they did, and they're already talking about fishing with me again this fall!

Another Successful Day Of Fishing On The Chesapeake!

The above picture is from my afternoon trip. These guys have been fishing with me for over 15 years! This picture is part of the reason why! These guys started catching fish at 3pm and had their limit of monster Chesapeake Bay rockfish by 4pm! There were two occasions when we had three fish on at the same time! We would see piles of suspended bait fish on the sonar. Then, we would slow the boat way down and let the lines drop right into it, and we'd start getting hookups! This was about as fast and furious as you could ask it to be!

90 Year-Old Man With A BIG Catch!

How about this? In this picture, we see 90 year-old John Bilic of Collingswood, New Jersey, with this monster rockfish that he caught with me today! It was the biggest fish of the day and he hauled it in! And, no, this is not the biggest fish that he has caught!

Chesapeake Bay Fishing For Trophy Striped Bass!

Here is how my trip turned out for today. We left Hoopers Island bright and early in the AM and noticed it was quite breezy. However, the sea conditions weren't bad at all where we ended up fishing. We caught three BIG trophy rockfish as soon as we got our lines out, and then, it was almost as if someone turned off the switch. We landed another striped bass about two and a half hours later, and caught our final keeper of the day as we were pulling our lines up. We also boated another nice striper, but we had to put it back because it did not meet the new minimum length requirement in the state of Maryland. The biggest fish of the day came in at about 45 inches in length. A great day on the water!

More BIG Maryland Rockfish!

The group that I took fishing today was a mixed group of both new and returning customers. As you can see, they came home with a nice load of fish. It started out pretty slow, as we went without a bite until about 8:30. But then, over the next 90 minutes, we proceeded to land 5 BIG rockfish, which turned out to be our final tally of the day. The biggest one of the day was 46 inches in length, with the next biggest coming in at 44 inches. The little guy on the right caught the 44-incher, and was the biggest fish that he's ever caught! He'll remember this day for a long time!

Chesapeake Bay Fishing For Striped Bass!

Hope everybody had a good winter. Our Chesapeake Bay trophy striped bass season began this weekend, and this is the best day that I've had yet! I took this crew out bright and early this morning on one of my Chesapeake Bay fishing charters. I was one of the first boats on the fishing grounds and that paid off, as my crew and I started getting hook-ups almost right away. By the time everyone else showed up, we had caught most of the fish that we needed. These fish were all whoppers too! Almost all of them were over 40 inches long! Just look at how some of these guys are straining to hold their fish up for this photo!

Another Nice Catch Of Chesapeake Bay Rockfish!

This crew has been fishing with me for several years now, and always seem to do well. Today was no exception! It didn't seem that way at first, as we were held to just two fish for the better part of the morning. However, after pulling up our gear and heading up the bay, we found flocks of birds on the water everywhere! When we saw that, we put out our trolling lines and went from just two rockfish to a full limit of 17 in about an hour! It was about as fast and furious as you could ever ask it to be! The last two fish (and the biggest) of the day were caught by a young man who had both of them on the line at the same time. One of them was a whopping 35 inches in length, while the other was 29 inches! He won't soon forget that experience! Below is a cooler

We left the dock at 6am, before the sun came up. We were putting out our trolling lines as the sun was rising. Not long after that, we started getting hook-ups. It was fast and furious for about an hour or so, as we were catching striped bass that ranged between 20 and 33 inches in length! We caught about nine fish in that first hour, and then ground away at the rest over the next couple of hours. It was a great day for all of us! On top of that, the weather was fantastic!

Fishing For Striped Bass On The Chesapeake Bay!

It was big family affair for this crew, as they were all in the area for the Thanksgiving holiday, and were looking to do some fishing for striped bass on the Chesapeake Bay to round it all out. As you can see, they did pretty well here. Upon arriving at the fishing grounds, we started getting hook-ups almost right away, with multiple rods going down several times throughout the day! The biggest fish on the day was 33 inches in length! All of these fish were fat and healthy, after spending a large part of the year in the many tributaries that feed into the Bay. As you can see from the above picture, this was a very happy bunch!
